Ten things you need to know about
Plaistow and Kirdford Primary School
We’re much bigger than we look from the outside! We have terrific grounds that include a large playground, adventure trail, Environmental Area (including a pond for pond dipping) a chicken pen, farm animal pen and a huge school field.
We achieve brilliant outcomes for our children – when compared with other schools nationally and locally we are well above the average!
We love the outdoors – we aim to be outside as often as possible, be it an English, Science or Art lesson. We love making the most of our space.
Our children are farmers – during the year every child will be able to look after and care for an animal.
We aim to be at the heart of our local community. We have excellent links with Plaistow and Kirdford Churches. We hold an annual Christmas Carol Concert and Harvest Festival.
We are a global school. Through building partnerships with schools around the world we have links with schools in Plaistow (East London), Belgium and Mitoto in Kenya.
We are a Forest School! If we have the chance to be in the woods, we will be!
Parents make up a key part of the Plaistow and Kirdford Team – through hearing reading at home, supporting our PTA, volunteering at school, helping run clubs and attending workshops – they are vital partners in supporting children’s learning.
We have four houses: Wey, Arun, Rother and Lavant – our school council chose rivers as they represented a continual journey that was always growing and changing.
We love Sport. We currently hold the Silver Sainsbury’s Sports Award. We have a number of sporting clubs and regularly attend sporting tournaments and matches.
