Mitoto School Kenya
We have an international link with a Primary School in Mitoto, Kenya. The Global School Partnerships aimed to motivate young people's commitment to a fairer, more sustainable world and develop an understanding of similarities and differences between different cultures. This partnership is now continuing as a Connecting Classroom Project. Following a visit in May 2014 by Mrs Jesse, Mrs Morris and Mrs Evans, we had a return visit from a Mitoto teacher in September 2014. Mrs Jesse and Mrs Evans visited Mitoto in February 2015 and a teacher from Kenya visited in Autumn 2015.
Teachers from each school have visited partner schools and set up projects to develop an understanding of each other’s cultures and way of life, focussing on the Global view and international understanding.
Mitoto 2017
Plaistow and Kirdford has been successful in its bid to maintain the partnership with our friends in Mitoto. We will be taking part in a project that will see two of our teachers working with children at Plaistow and Kirdford and in Mitoto to tackle issues around gender inequality.
In October, two teachers will travelling to Kenya. Having built on a project in the UK they will then work with teachers at Mitoto school and families in the surrounding areas and promoting equality for all.
