There’s a worm at the bottom of the garden…

Wiggle wiggle wiggle… Robins’ have been learning about and exploring worms this week. They have been focusing on the story ‘Superworm’ and all the wonderful things he can do so we decided to go on a superworm hunt. Robins’ enjoyed looking and digging for worms in the environmental area as well as making there own superworms during exploring time.

Buzz buzz…

This week Robins have been learning all about bees and their magical powers. We have learnt so many facts, created bee art and even learnt a poem about bees. Have a look at the hard workings that happened in the hive this week…

New Topic Alert!

Robins have started their new topic this week and it’s one they are going to love. It’s called ‘Why do ladybirds have spots?’ Which means it’s all about BUGS! We started our topic by going on a very exciting bug safari where we found lots of creepy crawlies including spiders, ladybirds and daddy long legs. Let the topic begin…

Happy Easter Robins!

WOW… what a brilliant 4 weeks back at school. All the Robins’ have been working so hard in the nest this half term and I am so proud how they’ve come back with such a positive attitudes, huge smiley faces and feathers as puffed as ever. They all deserves a HUGE marshmallow clap or maybe even a chocolate egg one…

I hope you all have a egg-cellent Easter break full of chocolate, family and sunshine. Fingers crossed the Easter bunny hops into your garden, leaving some shiny eggs behind! Enjoy Robins and see you all in a couple of weeks ready for summer term (eeek).

We had a visitor…

Boing boing boing… when Robins came in after lunch there was such a surprise. On the floor were 2 great big white foot prints, a letter and Easter basket. Can you guess who may have been? The Easter bunny. Robins were super lucky to have had a visit from the Easter bunny at school, where it had left chocolate eggs all on the playground for us to go and find. They sure were eggcellent at finding all the eggs!

What an Easter packed week we have had! Robins also made chocolate nests using cornflakes, chocolates and mini eggs. We loved watching the chocolate melt! Have a look at our finished price below…

Robins First EVER egg roll...

IMG_8229.JPG

As you may know egg rolling at Plaistow and Kirdford Primary school is a early tradition. Today, Robins got to got to experience their first ever egg roll which they all were very eggcited about! They took it in turns to hold the famous egg rolling tube and then roll their very cracking, decorated eggs down the tube to see how far it rolled. No yolk… we had an eggcellent morning! Take a look at the gallery (and concentration faces) below…

African Jewellery

This week we have been continuing our Africa topic and have been exploring the people and their lives. Robins were interested in their clothes, houses and jewellery so we decided to make some African necklaces using pasta and beads. Robins were excellent at using their fine motor skills to thread pasta and beads onto the string. We think they look fabulous, take a look!

IMG_8156.jpeg

Oh nooo…where have the Robins gone? They seemed to have turned into lions. This week Robins have been transforming themselves into the king of the jungle as part of our Africa Tooic. They used different coloured orange and yellow paper and PVA glue. Here is a sneak peak…

YAY a full nest again!

What a wonderful week Robins have had getting back into our nest and doing what they do best! They’ve all puffed up their feathers and settled so quickly. Robins have followed new routines, rules and learning and just taken it in their stride. This week we’ve been busy exploring Mother’s Day, playing on the new climbing frame and even had water play inside (eeeek!). I am so proud of every singlet Robin which means a HUGE marshmallow clap! Take a look at our learning this week…

Google classroom

Good morning Robins,

To access home learning activites children need to be signed up to their Google Classroom. Here is a youtube clip with everything you need to know about google classroom as a parent. Have a watch…

As our children are only 4/5 we won’t be using it in such a complex way but it gives you an idea.

So, now you have to create your own email in the format as set out in the guide (firstnamesurname). These have already been created by school but we are unable to add a list here for GDPR reasons. One or two of you have complicated surnames - if that is you, please contact the office to ask for the email details that have been created by school for you.

The classroom can be found at: https://classroom.google.com/u/0/c/MTYwMDM2NTIxMTk2

Password to join is: kireojs

P.S. Make sure you are logged out of all your google accounts.

I have added a screenshot of the front page of the classroom. This is from the ‘stream’ page. To access lessons, you need to click on ‘classwork’ (top, of screen, second from left).

Miss Hall

Home learning!

Good morning to my lovely chirpy Robins and their parents!

Screenshot 2021-01-05 at 08.59.30.png

Hope you are all well and enjoyed a well deserved and hopefully magical Christmas. This is all a bit weird and crazy but as a team we are going to continue our Robins education as best and as sparkly, in true Miss Hall style, as we can.

Every morning I will post a reading/writing task, maths challenge and topic for your child to complete but remember our curriculum is underpinned by play, so the more its a game and driven by your child’s interests the better! At this stage in the year, the Robins are all at different stages in their learning and the biggest thing is to promote independence (be there to help but not to do) when they are reading, writing or completing number time.

If you are not yet signed up to google classroom then the next post will explain how to do this with some useful tips and videos. Please sign up ASAP as this is where the children’s work will be posted each day.

REMEMBER keep safe and smiling and remember… whenever there is a dull moment then just add glitter or a penguin haha!

Christmas Party!

What a fun and exciting morning we had at the Robins Christmas Party. Robins were super excited that the marque had changed to the most funniest place to be in school with a disco ball and fairy lights! We had a boogie, played party games and even the naughty elf brought us some very yummy scrummy party food! Miss Hall definitely enjoyed singing all the party songs!

We’ve had a visitor!

On Tuesday, Robins came into school and a cheeky elf had visited our classroom (yay to Christmas time)! He had left us a note and explained that he was here to check on our super sounds and hard working in number time. Well, little did we know he was a naughty elf… Everyday he has been and done something that has not made Miss Hall happy! He has got the bricks out everywhere, brought and decorated a Christmas tree awfully and made a mess in the corner or our classroom. Have a look below -

Well-being Week

This week Robins have been focusing on their well-being and how to keep happy in themselves which linked perfectly after anti-bullying week last week.
On Monday we had a lovely chill and chat with biscuits and juice which made all our hearts beam with happiness and joy.
Today we spoke about worries and how these are ok too. Sometimes worries make us have funny butterfly feelings in our tummy! So we decided to make a worry monster where Robins can tell their worry to a special button and the worry monster will eat that worry up. I explained that Miss Hall might even need to use the worry monster (more than once)!

Odd Sock Day

As part of anti-bullying week, Robins wore odd socks today to show that being different is ok! We discussed the importance of being kind to our friends and then rocked out to the odd sock song - ohh Robins have got some moves! Check out the video below and if you want to play it at home then the song is linked below too. Enjoy!

Hedgehog Hibernation

This week Robins have been learning about hibernation and which animals hibernate. Have a go at asking your Robin which animals hibernate and where?

So today we made nests for hedgehogs to hibernate in. The children used sticks and leaves to create their nests. We also decided that Miss Hall would like to hibernate for the winter just like a hedgehog!

A new topic begins!

Welcome back all my lovely Robins! I hope you all had a well rested and spoooky half term.

Well, what a day! Robins have really kick started their learning and were super excited about our new topic - Why do squirrels hide their nuts? Today we went on a lovely autumn walk around school to hunt for beautiful leaves of all different colours. I think the children thought they were hedgehogs than Robins today…

Pumpkin spice and everything nice!

What a pumpkin filled week Robins have had! Miss Hall brought 4 pumpkins into school and Robins were super good at cleaning and carving them out. We have also been making pumpkin artwork for our classroom. Miss Hall (or a cheeky witch, we are not sure) even turned our snack into pumpkins! Who’s been making pumpkins at home too?
